It’s not that simple. Gmail uses a feature that exists in Mozilla or ActiveX in IE to make HTTP GET requests from Javascript. The only reasonable way to get Opera work with Gmail is for Opera to implement something compatible to Mozilla’s Javascript functions.

And there is a second issue: Opera crashes right after logon. I guess this is some bug in Opera’s Javascript.

Gmail makes extensive use of frames to reduce page loads and server round trips. It has a total of 9 frames, most of which are hidden at any given time. One of them contains the message folder view, and one of them contains the compose/read message view. One of them contains nothing but 228 KB of Javascript, which is used by all other frames.

Gmail, gmail… У кого-то может быть вполне обоснованная потребность в большом объёме почтового ящика, но вот лично мне и пятидесяти метров всегда было более чем достаточно.
